Donald Pida Obituary

Donald G. Pida, 89 of Wilmington, DE went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 17, 2018. He was born in Newark, NJ to the late Afton and Nellie Pida. He was a graduate of Union High School. Donald joined the Merchant Marines and served in the US Navy during WWII.

Donald was a telephone company employee, starting his career with the Diamond State Telephone Co. and retiring from Lucent/Alcatel. Shortly after retiring, he worked for the State of Delaware. He was a dedicated member of the Telecom Pioneers and a devoted animal lover.

He was pre-deceased by his wife, Patricia S. Pida. He is survived by his daughters Patti J. Bryson (Tim) and Donna L. Pida; his grandchildren Joanna (Prince), Eric (Kimberly), Samantha (Joe), Danielle, Rosemarie; 9 great- grandchildren; his sister Carol Zolnick and his loving cousin Joanne Fields.

The family would like to thank Sunrise of Wilmington and the extraordinary staff for the love and care of our father/grandfather; and we would also like to thank the devoted, caring Bayada nurses and physical therapists who took such wonderful care of him. Donald loved you all…..

A Viewing will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 10 – 11am at Brandywine Valley Funeral Care – Beeson Chapel, 412 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809, where a Funeral Service will begin at 11 am. Burial will follow at Chester Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2619 Foulk Road, Wilmington DE 19810.
