William P. Walsh, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.
Bill was born in Delaware in the summer of 1931, the only son of William and Margaret’s five children. In 1950, this strapping, handsome and charismatic man married a sweet and beautiful country girl named Dorothy Oakes. Together they had five children: Daniel (Terry), Deborah, Dennis (Catherine), Douglas (Liz) and Donald (Judy). They gave him eleven grandchildren who were the joys of his life, Regan, Dan, Casey, Maggie, Will, Ryan, Katie, Kylie, Zak, Allison, and Billy along with sixteen precious great grandchildren.
In his youth, he was a bricklayer and business agent for the Bricklayer’s Union. Bill was the first ever NCC Building inspector, he retired after 25 years of service with the county. He then became a successful business owner of Walsh Home Inspections.
He was an avid golfer and loved spending summers hosting his family in Fenwick Island. Bill and his wife Dorothy achieved their dream retirement in beautiful Boca Raton, Florida. Bill and his love returned home in 1999 to be with family during the time of Dorothy’s illness and death.
Bill’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 11 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark DE 19702. The Visitation will begin at 9:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Delaware City.
