It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eleanor Krygier, a lifelong resident of Delaware. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 90 on February 29, 2024.
Eleanor was born in Buffalo, NY in 1933 to Mary Kozak and Joseph Koszuta. She married Alex Krygier, who served in the Korean War, introducing her to the life of being a veteran’s wife. She served for over 40 years as a valuable volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary and the Wilmington VA Hospital, where she spent most of her time. Eleanor loved spending holidays and her spare time with her family, especially her grand babies. She also enjoyed cooking and working on crafts.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; Marie and Joseph; 11 siblings; and her 3 children: Vivian Kettner, Janice Givens and Alex Krygier.
She is survived by her sons Ernest Krygier, Daniel Krygier (Cheryl), Roger Krygier, and Patrick Krygier; 17 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express gratitude to Cadia Healthcare Broadmeadow of Middletown, Delaware for their continuous support and care. Also, a special thank you to Seasons Hospice of Delaware for her comfort care during her final moments.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 10-11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Middletown, DE.
