Bonita Marie (Burgoon) Salony

Bonita “Bonnie” Salony, age 73 of Newark, Delaware, formally of Asheville, Pennsylvania passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018, peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. 

She was a graduate of Saint Francis College in 1967, where she received a B.S. in Education.  She devoted her working years to the Christina School District to provide a positive, loving and nurturing learning environment for her students.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend.  During her retirement years she enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, vacationing, shopping, visiting casinos, dining out and watching sports.  Bonnie enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in all of their activities and still found time to enjoy adventures with the Ya Ya Sisters and weekly “meetings” with the Breakfast Club.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Emil “Mike”, son Michael Salony (Michelle), daughters Veronica Colombo (Vincent), and Katherine Salony; six grandchildren that she adored, Michael, Jacob, Gianna, Alissa, Ella and Tanner; and three brothers Thomas, Gerald and Ron Burgoon.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ross and Leonna (Lamont) Burgoon and infant twin sisters, Mary and Jane.

Bonnie was an amazing woman who brought love, joy and happiness to all who knew her. Her kindness and generosity has touched the hearts of anyone that she came in contact with.  She will be greatly missed by all.

A Viewing will be held Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Another Viewing will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE 19702 from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm where a Mass of Christian Burial will offered at 12:30 pm. A Committal Service will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
