Cpl. Dorothy J. “D.J.” Lundberg-Bandy, age 23, of Newark, DE and formerly of Elkton, MD, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Naval Center in San Deigo, CA.
Dorothy attended both Elkton and Northeast High schools in Maryland and then Thomas McKean High School, in New Castle, DE where she graduated in June of 2013.
After graduations, Dorothy joined the Marine Corps. This was a dream of hers since she was a little girl. She worked as a supply manager for the USMC. She was also attending classes at Park University in San Deigo, CA working toward her business degree.
“D.J.” was always a very active youngster. She played volleyball and ran track in both middle and high school. She also played softball until the end of high school. Volleyball and softball followed her into the corps where she played throughout her whole enlistment. She also became involved with the Wounded Warrior Project and helped with several events to benefit our veterans.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Ambrose R. Bandy, her son, Cyrus A. Bandy, her mother, Andrea L. Callaghan, her grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Callaghan, her siblings, Alicia L. Callaghan, Daniel Lee Lundberg, Cody R. Lundberg, her step-father, Daniel Walton, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday January 16, 2019 at 12:00 pm at BEESON FUNERAL HOME, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A committal service will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the semperfifund.org would be greatly appreciated.
