George Allen O'Dell

George Allen O’Dell, Sr., age 72, of Newark, Delaware, passed away on November 4, 2018 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He attended Christiana High School. George was a Foreman at Westvaco in Newark for 33 years and worked at A&H Metal in Newark after retiring. His hobby was his prized 1931 Ford coupe and he enjoyed showing it to his grandchildren and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 51 years Lillie O’Dell, son George O’Dell, Jr. and his wife Shelly of Newark, daughter Kimberly Arena and her husband Christopher of Wilmington, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sisters Mary Duhadaway of Middletown, Shirley Games of Middletown, Peggy Powell and her husband Robert of Newark, Sandra O’Dell and her fiancée John Hargan of Townsend, brothers Donald O’Dell of Somerset, KY, James O’Dell and his wife Patricia of New Castle, numerous nieces, nephews, and his family pets Spencer and Dixie.

He is predeceased by his son Michael Shawn O’Dell, sister Gloryann O’Dell, mother Mary O’Dell-Smith and father George Raymond O’Dell.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday November 10, 2018 at 10:30 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE where friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 9:30 am.  Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
