Helen Kellagher

Helen M. Kellagher, age 91, of Newark, DE, formerly of Lewes, DE and Debary, FL, died on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Millcroft Nursing Home.
Helen was born in 1926 to John and Mary Gushen and raised in Fountain Springs, PA. She attended Butler High School. In 1948, she married William M. Kellagher and in 1956 they moved to Delaware where they raised their family. She retired from the University of Delaware as the Supplies Buyer in the University's Bookstore. After retirement, Helen, along with her husband, Bill, enjoyed their summers in Lewes, DE and their winters in Debary, FL. She also enjoyed traveling with her sister, Marie, on their many cruises.
In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband of 55 years and her son William T. Kellagher. She was also predeceased by her sister, Marie Leister, and her brothers, Andrew, Micky, John, Edward, and Joseph Gushen.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Rash (Robert) of Newark, DE, and her sons Michael Kellagher of New Castle, DE and Martin Kellagher (Sharon) of Lewes, DE. She is also survived by her grandchildren Rob Rash (Danielle), Will Kellagher, Joe Kellagher, Bryan Kellagher, Courtney Chorman (Logan), Cassidy Kellagher, 7 great-grandchildren, and her sisters-in-law Betty Kellagher of Levittown, PA and Marie Kellagher of Camp Hill, PA.
The family sends a special thank you to the staff at Seasons Hospice and the first floor staff at Millcroft Health Center for their care and kindness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11am at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 2431 Frazer Rd, Newark, DE, where friends may call from 10-11am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington DE 19808.
