Melissa Jo Earl, 46, of Bear, Delaware relinquished her loving spirit for an eternal one on September 26, 2019.  She is now pain free and in the presence of the Lord.  Throughout her life, she was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, sister-in-law and friend.  Her departure leaves such a void in our hearts.

Melissa, known to many as “Missy”, was born in 1973 in West Chester, PA.  She graduated Glasgow High School in 1991.  After graduating from Glasgow High School in 1991, Missy went on to earn an Associate Degree from Delaware Technical Community College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wilmington University.  Missy’s love for kids led her to the field of early childhood education.  Her career in this area began at the First Experience Day Care.  After working there for many years, Missy went on to open her own daycare center.  Missy enjoyed working with kids as her many job careers included her love for kids was further demonstrated through her involvement with the Head Start Program and Panda Daycare.  For the last past three years, Missy spent her time working with high school students at Appoquinimink High School, nurturing and teaching her students in Early Childhood Education Career Pathways.

Missy’s hobbies included scrapbooking, volunteering with the Newark High School Football Booster Club, going to the beach and spending time with her family and friends.

Known for her good nature and love for her family and friends, she leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Donaven Earl, Sr.; three sons, Donaven Earl, Jr., Michael Joseph Earl, Brayden Robert Earl; parents, Donna and Alan Cornell; one brother, Joseph Alan Cornell (Jessica) of Townsend, DE; one sister, Tina Marie Gage of Fayetteville, NC; in-laws, William and Shirley Earl; life-long friends, Michelle Semonelle and Michelle Farmer, and a host of other sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, far too many to name.

Her caregiver for the last several months was a very special lady, Mom-Mom Shirley, who was always there lending a helping hand.
