To Betty Murray and Family,
My sincere sympathy to you in the loss of your husband and father. I remember him and your family well when we attended Chester Bethel. I know of your sadness as I lost my dear husband, Wayne, on Nov. 18th. Carlene Smith

My wife and I became neighbors with Bill and Betty several years ago when we moved in just across the street. Our golden retriever Cooper brought about our first opportunity to meet Bill and Betty. As Cooper jumped about Bill patiently petted him and told us that when he was young his dog would hide in the bushes to surprise him when he returned home from school. Bill told us he knew the dog was there but pretended not to see it as the dog happily scampered toward him to welcome him home. His story captured our hearts in knowing Bill was a man of great passion, love, caring and dignity. The display of the American Flag on the mailbox spoke volumes of his love of our country and his honor to serve and be a part of D-Day. We were always impressed how Bill and Betty worked as a team in their yard keeping it in tip top shape. After a heavy storm I helped Bill cut and move some branches and noted that his massive M signature sculpture had it's support beams damaged and he told be he would have to fix it. I offered to help. Early the next day Bill was out working contently on the project. From my own home project experience I could see that he was calculating his game plan. and I again offered my assistance. Upon my return home at the end of each work day I noted continual, systematic progress. It wasn't long and Bill was on a step ladder showing his determination in applying the final touches of paint to the top frame of the finished project. Day by day he kept at it determined to have it upstanding once again, perhaps even more sturdy than before. Bill and Betty are the best neighbors one could ever wish for. The shared moments will be memories we shall always cherish. Thank you Bill and Betty for welcoming us into your neighborhood. Dave, Bridget & Cooper Back

Oh Bill, you made such an impression on me in too short a time. Thank you for making me laugh and smile. I will miss playing ball with you in the community room at Arden Courts. I thought we were going to the World Cup together, but I guess you needed to get there before me. Without you I wouldn't have gotten to have the wonderful friendship that I now have with your wife Betty. Love to you Betty, Nancy and the whole family. My heartfelt condolences for your loss. He was a great man and still is one in heaven. He has left much for us to hold dear that are still here on earth. Love from Miss Lucy

I so enjoyed getting to know Bill, through my daughter-in-law Katie Murray Green. My only regret in not being able to spend more time with him. He had such a presence - quiet and dignified - even when surrounded by happy, active grandchildren. My thoughts are with all of his family in this sad time.

I remember speaking with him at Alison and Erik's wedding, particularly while we were waiting for photos. He was so kind and we had a wonderful conversation . He was very proud of his family and his love for them shone brightly.
