Anna Grant Obituary

Anna Mae Grant of Bear, Delaware went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2020 at the age of 97.

She was born to May Francis and Edward Adams on a farm in Hurlock, Maryland in 1922.  Anna Mae grew up in Richardson Park and graduated from Henry C. Conrad High School in 1940. After graduation she worked at Vick’s Chemical Co. but an accidental baseball thrown into her backyard changed her future.  She met the love of her life, Bayard W. Grant, and they were married on Christmas Day 1940.  She became a housewife and then a mother with first a daughter and then 4 years later with a son.

She was a long time member of Calvary United Presbyterian Church in Newport where she was involved in various activities.  She was an excellent cook and loved baking cakes.  She enjoyed shopping and played in several bridge groups.

After the death of B.W., she married an old high school sweetheart, John G. Redmond and enjoyed many happy years of traveling.  She and John split their year at residences in Bradenton, Florida and Millsboro, Delaware.  Anna Mae’s daughter and husband took care of her for the last seven years at their home in Bear, Delaware after her diagnosis with Alzheimer’s.

Anna Mae is predeceased by her parents, Edward and May Adams, her husbands, Bayard W. Grant and John G. Redmond and her brother, Lee Adams.  She is survived by her sister Dolores Langshaw (Tom), daughter Sharron Karasek (Joe), son Douglas Grant (Donna), three grandchildren Michelle Maguire, Lindsay Passwater (Scott), Jason Karasek (Marissa), great grand-daughter Gianna and two nieces, Debbie Erickson (Tom) and Denise Cairo (Robert).
