Barbara M. (Erickson) Allen

Barbara M. Allen, 95, of Bear, DE, formerly of Wilmington, DE and Baltimore, MD, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.  She was born in Baltimore, MD on August 21, 1925, daughter of the late John and Barbara Erickson.  She was the wife of the late Burgess B. Allen. 

Barbara is survived by four children:  Burgess P. Allen (wife, Karen) of Millboro, VA, Linda Springer (husband, Keith Springer) of Lancaster, PA, Barbara Jean McDaniel (husband, J. Gary McDaniel) of Bel Air, MD, and Robert Allen (wife, Lynn) of Bear, DE.   She is also survived by two granddaughters:   Jessica Springer and Kelly Springer, both of Lancaster, PA.

Barbara worked in the Brandywine School District as a secretary for many years until her retirement in 1994.  She enjoyed being at her beach house, shopping, gardening and spending time with her family and beloved dog, Sophie.

A private viewing will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 10 am followed by a service at 11 am at the Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE.  Private interment will be at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Meeting of the Minds program at the Newark Senior Center.
