Billie K. Young, passed away at age 83, on August 29, 2021. Born in Winchester, VA, she was mostly raised in Wilmington, DE where she ended up raising her family as well. As daughter of the late Mildred J. Brown Burd Seime and Ray Burd, Billie’s talent as a dancer won her the prestigious opportunity to tour with the legendary June Taylor Dancers of New York City fame and the Rockettes. After settling down in Wilmington, Billie was very active in sports including the Bowling league and the Industrial League Softball Team for Delmarva Power (formerly DP&L) where she worked for over 30 years as an administrative assistant and then an electrician before retiring. Her other hobbies included skiing, golfing and traveling, as well as spending loads of time with family and friends.
Billie was predeceased by her husband of over 20 years, Raymond Young and her sister Sandra Burge. She is survived by her brothers Wayne Seime (Laure), Glenn Seime and her sister Karen Seime Singleton; her children Randal Salyer (Sue) and Linda Ackerman; grandchildren, Amanda, Denise, Robin, Stephen, Aimee, Kris, and Nicholas; and great-grandchildren Nathan, Ryan, Jason, Chloe, Marabelle and Kylee. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews spread throughout the U.S. and beyond.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Brandywine Valley Funeral Care – Beeson Chapel, 412 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809 at 10:00am where a memorial service will begin at 11:00am. Burial will be private.
