Billy J. Sykes

Billy Sykes passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2022 at the age of 84.  He went to join the Lord after a short, courageous battle with cancer. 

Bill is predeceased by his parents Freeman Sykes and Bertha (Fuller) Sykes, sisters Faye, Joyce, and Janet; brothers, Robert and Joe; nephew, Ronnie, and his longtime, loving partner of thirty-eight years, Rita Moore. Bill is survived by his son Chris Sykes, his sister Shirley and husband Billy Deel and their family, his brother-in-law Carvel Boyd and his son Jeff as well as many other nieces and nephews.  In addition, he is survived by his stepchildren and their spouses, Jr (Diane), Tammy (Todd), Lisa (Bruce) and Chris (Deana).  He adored his grandchildren, Caitlyn, Risa, Addison, Charlotte, Sydney, Shelby, Zachary, Sean, Kenzie, Ryan, Corey, and constantly bragged about them. He always had pictures to show to everyone.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Bill’s friends, which he had many. He knew no strangers, enjoyed talking to everyone and always made new friends.  The list of people he knew is extensive.

Bill joined the Navy and traveled to many places and countries. Once honorably discharged, he began his career at General Motors.

Bill enjoyed spending time with family. He was dedicated, and caring. He is now making heaven a better place and joining Rita, the love of his life.  He would do anything for anyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  Rest in peace Bill until the day we meet again.  We love you and will miss your presence always!

A Committal Service will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Delaware on Thursday, May 26th at 2:00PM.
