Bobbye Lynn Haupt passed away on the morning of September 14, 2021.
The daughter of Robert and Betty Herman, Bobbye was born in 1950 in Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Shippensburg University, where she received a Bachelor’s in Science. Bobbye later attended Widener University, where she received a Masters in Education.
Bobbye successfully used her degrees to teach at both Central Penn College and later Cecil College. Never one to tolerate idle time, she would also inspire her family by multi-tasking, working for Q-Link (the precursor of America Online) from 1985 to 1989.
Bobbye has always been known for her love of travel and over the course of her life has visited many places around the world. Her favorite form of travel was cruising and she took any opportunity to do so. She has been on more than 150 cruises, many of them with her family. Her passion for cruising was so deep that she quickly decided to join the industry, becoming a travel advisor in 1989 while still a full-time professor at Cecil College. As the years passed, she learned more of the business, becoming a franchise owner with Cruise One in 2007. She earned many accolades while being a franchise owner and was a constant member of the Circle of Excellence with the company, but she was especially proud of being recognized as the Cruise One Franchise of the Year in 2014, CNBC’s Star Franchisee of the Year for the state of Delaware in 2016, and the International Franchise Association’s Franchise of the Year in 2019.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Robert Haupt; her son, Mark Haupt; her son, Alan Haupt and his wife Ashley; her brother, Donald Herman and his wife, Joey; her cherished grandsons, Brayden and Tyler.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Beeson Funeral Home on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 11 am to 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Bobbye’s name.
