Brandee M. King Obituary

Brandee M. King Obituary

Brandee King, age 48, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Brandee was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, friend, and so much more to the many people whose lives she touched. She is survived by her daughter, Geordin King; her father, James and Stepmother Sherry King; her sisters, Sheree (Rick) Sciavicco, Karin King, Mandy Kelley; her nieces and nephews; Keenan, Bryanna, Kaylee, Addison, and Ricky; and Uncle Bud (Christina) King; and countless other relatives and friends who she considered family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Debra King and nephew, Shawn Kelley.

Brandee lived her life with an incredible amount of love, laughter, determination, and personality. Even during her battle with cancer, she refused to let illness define her. She continued working, traveling, spending time with family and friends, playing games, singing, enjoying dinners out, going to craft shows, and finding reasons to take a drive in the car and simply enjoy life.  Her family is so incredibly proud of Brandee for her courageous fight, her will to live, and sheer determination and strength she demonstrated day in and day out this past year.

Brandee had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling and seeing the world.  She enjoyed trips to the zoo, beautiful sunsets or sunrises, sight-seeing, and driving through the mountains. Family gatherings were also some of her favorite times, filled with food, laughter, stories, karaoke, game nights and plenty of good-natured chaos.

Brandee was also a devoted sports fan, especially when it came to her beloved Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. She proudly wore her Philly sports gear and loved showing off her fly outfits and favorite kicks. She wanted those who loved her to remember her exactly that way—with her style, her confidence, and her unmistakable personality.

Brandee's love for her family was at the center of everything she did. She was incredibly proud of her daughter, Geordin, and the bond they shared went far beyond that of mother and daughter. They were best friends, partners in crime, and each other's ride or die. Brandee also cherished the special relationships she shared with her sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. To her, family wasn't limited by blood, she had a remarkable circle of lifelong friends that she considered family, many since her school days, where she graduated from Christiana High School, Class of 1995.  Brandee treasured the people who laughed with her, traveled with her, played games with her, celebrated with her, and stood beside her during the hardest days. Her friendships were genuine, loyal, and lasting.

Brandee was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She spent nearly 10 years with Corporate Interiors, a place she considered a second home, and prior to that another 13 years at Leisure Fitness, now Johnson Fitness.  Her incredible work ethic was something she was proud of and something she passed on to her daughter. Even while battling cancer, Brandee continued working until just weeks before her passing. Her dedication, strength, and commitment left an impact on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Brandee fought this battle hard, she fought with courage, and she fought to stay with the people she loved for as long as she possibly could. But even when she could no longer do all the things she loved, she still found ways to feel alive—whether it was visiting friends, watching a sunset, or simply spending time with the people who meant the most to her.

Brandee would not want to be remembered for the illness that took her from us. She would want to be remembered for the life she lived—for the laughter, the stories, the crazy family gatherings, and most of all, the love she gave so freely to others. And those who knew Brandee will forever carry a piece of her with them.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that Brandee is finally at peace and reunited with those who went before her. We can picture her now giving our mother, our nephew Shawn, and all of the loved ones she missed a huge hug.

Brandee, you fought until the very end. You lived, you loved, you laughed, and you made memories that will last a lifetime. Rest easy now. You are forever loved, will live on in our hearts, and will never be forgotten.
