Carl Vitanza Obituary

Carl David Vitanza, 71, of Bear, Delaware passed away peacefully on November 12, 2021 surrounded by his family and loved ones after a battle with lung cancer.

Carl was born in 1950 to Amedeo and Ada Vitanza in Manhattan, New York. In 1969, he enlisted in the United States Army. Carl served in the Vietnam War. Following his service, he started his career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He retired in 2000 as an Associate Warden. During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandson, Brady.

Carl was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. Anyone who knew Carl knew that he was the most loving son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and husband a family could ask for. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was unendingly proud of his family.

Carl was predeceased by his parents, Amedeo and Ada Vitanza and brother, Amedeo (Junior) Vitanza.

Carl will be greatly missed by his family.  He is survived by his wife Beatrice Vitanza, son Michael Vitanza, daughter Lisa Vitanza-Long and her husband Chris Long; grandsons Brady and Zachary Long; sisters Barbara Vitanza and Peggy Carrillo; brother Anthony Vitanza, many nieces and nephews and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the American Cancer Society. A committal service will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery on December 1, 2021 at 11:00 am.
