Clarence L. Johnson, affectionately known as, “Lin,” was born to Robert A. Johnson and Margaret G. Johnson on October 10, 1936, in Richmond, VA.
Lin received his education in the Richmond VA school system up to his graduation from Armstrong High School in June 1955. Lin went on to the US Air Force in October 1955 and was stationed at Bolling AFB as an Air Policeman. Upon his honorable discharge in October 1959, Lin moved to Philadelphia to join his brother, Wilburt Johnson and mother. Lin married the love of his life, Joyce Crawford, in June 1965.
Lin worked at the US Postal Service up to retirement in May 2006, then spent many years traveling with Joyce. Lin was an excellent husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, role model and provider. He will be remembered for his kind and giving nature, along with his love of landscaping, photography, home improvement projects, reading his daily newspaper, watching, “Gunsmoke,” listening to music, being a Philadelphia Eagles superfan and an honorable human being.
Lin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce C. Johnson, son, Brian L. Johnson, daughter, Lauren K. Johnson, granddaughters, Malana D. Linder and Olivia J. Linder, grandson, Micah D. Evans, as well as many other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Simpson United Methodist Church, 907 Centerville Rd., Wilmington, DE 19804 from 10:00am until 11:00am, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00am. Burial will be on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 11:00am at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE 19701.
