Donald Ironside Obituary

Donald M. Ironside, age 90, of Odessa, DE and formerly of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023.

Donald was a 1951 graduate of Kennett High School. After graduation, he completed 30 years of service as a personnel specialist in the United States Air Force and the Delaware Air National Guard, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his military service, he worked for the Appoquinimink School District in maintenance until his retirement in 2001.

He is preceded in death by his brother Joseph Ironside.

Donald is survived by his wife of 48 years: Pamela Ironside; his children: Jane Wedman (Mike) and James Ironside; his grandchildren: John Skocik (Lady), Christopher Skocik (Holly), Heather Craver (Miguel), Dominique Peachey (Ryan), and Kaine Ironside; 14 great grandchildren; and his siblings: Peggy Holcomb, Evelyn Schopfer, James Ironside, and Emilie Reynolds.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 10-11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home. Burial will be private at Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Donald’s family requests donations in his name be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
