Donald John Kasten

Donald John Kasten, age 73, of Newark, Delaware and formerly of Somerville, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025 in Newark.

Don was a 1971 graduate of Bridgewater-Raritan High School East and went on to graduate from Ramapo College with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies. In addition to being the owner of Aztec Energy, Don worked for some time at K-Mart Corporate offices and served as the Manager of Technical Operations for the Office of Industrial Productivity and Energy Assessment at Rutgers University – a position which he held for 25 years until his retirement. He also served as a member of the Somerset County Energy Council in Somerville, NJ and as a coach for a girls’ soccer team.

Don is survived by his wife, Paulette Hussey Kasten; his daughters: Avery Caltabilotta (Thomas) and Laura Hoffman (Andrew); his step-daughters: Adrienne Hendy (Christopher) and Julianne Hussey; his sister Janice Laba (Dennis) and sister-in-law: Rosie Kasten; his brother John Kasten (Maryellen); grandchildren: Jessa, Marco, Riley, and  step-grandchildren: Sebastian, Cameron, and Mateo; as well as nieces and nephews: Kimberly, Andrew, Jill, Jon-Michael, Jesse, Chrissy, Danielle, Severo, Andy, and Adam.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 10:30-11:30 am at Yardley United Methodist Church, 300 Langhorne Rd., Yardley, PA 19067. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 am at Yardley United Methodist Church. Interment will be private at a later date.
