Duane Fauver Obituary

Duane A. Fauver, 45, of Newark, DE passed away suddenly with loved ones at home on April 25, 2021.

Duane was born in 1976 to Donald and Anna Eng Fauver in Phoenixville, PA. After attending Sun Valley High School, he continued on to learn the trade of welding & pipe fitting.

Duane honed these skills at the Eagle Point Refinery in Westwood, NJ where he was a dedicated & highly skilled employee, garnering him the attention of management at Sunoco, Inc. Duane’s career with Sunoco at the Eagle Point Refinery molded Duane into a well-known, respected leader in his field and gained him lifelong friends.

In 2000 Duane married Maggie Fauver, and moved to Newark, DE. There he raised his son Eric Fauver and daughter Malinda Fauver. They were the highlight of his life.

Fatherhood was Duane’s favorite role, bringing him tremendous joy.  He was a loving father who offered stern guidance to his son with his well-known saying “What!!”, that definitely wasn’t a question; or his infamous “look” that signaled to think long and hard about what you were thinking to do next. His daughter brought out the softer side of Duane; although she did inherit his infamous “look”.

Hockey played a very prominent role in Duane’s life. Duane grew up playing for the Philadelphia Little Flyers program that attracted the best talent from the tri state area. Duane was selected to represent Team Philadelphia in the prestigious Quebec International Pee-Wee Tournament where he competed against teams from North America, Europe, and Scandinavia. Duane then moved on to be a founding member of Team Tough Monkey, an elite men’s league team. While this team endured many losing seasons, he was a key catalyst to helping win the team’s only championship in their long history.

Duane had a very unique, amazing sense of humor. He was selective and extremely witty with his words. Duane was well versed at continuing jokes or pranks for an extremely long time, decades. He will be greatly missed by all who enjoyed the laughter & fun he brought into their lives.

Duane is preceded in death by his mother, Anna Eng Fauver; father, Donald Alan Fauver; father in-law, Aaron S. Berg; niece, Briana Mei Kilroy; niece, Destiny Berg; and cherished grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Duane is survived by his wife Maggie Fauver of Newark, DE; children, Eric Alan Fauver, and Malinda Anna Fauver; granddaughter Lacey Olivia Rain Fauver; and his mother-in-law, Eileen J. Berg. Duane is also survived by his sister Cheryl Ann Kilroy, wife of Blaise Kilroy; brother Alfred Lutz & sister in-law Natalie Stark; brother Darrell & sister in-law Jocelyn Fauver; brother Donald Fauver; brother in-law Tim & wife Marissa Berg; brother in-law Joe & wife Jo Dale Berg; nephews, Evan J.
