Edward F. McDermott, Jr.

Edward F. McDermott, Jr., age 67, of Newark, DE died peacefully on March 11, 2022 in Coral Springs Nursing Home in Wilmington, DE. 

Edward graduated from Christiana High School in 1972.  He worked as a fork lift driver at Formosa Plastics for most of his adult life and when he retired, worked for Delaware Park as a slot attendant. 

Edward was a talented artist who loved painting.  He loved music, especially The Beatles, and also was a musician himself.  He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar and harmonica.  He loved to read classic literature, fantasy, and science fiction.  He was also a huge fan of Game of Thrones. 

Edward is predeceased by his father, Edward F. McDermott Sr., his mother, Mary L. McDermott, his brother, Daniel L. McDermott, and his brother in law, Adin Lewis. 

Edward is survived by his children: daughters Shannon L. McDermott of Newark, DE, Stephanie E. McDermott of Newark, DE and son Edward J. McDermott (wife Natalie) of Glassboro, NJ; grandchildren Alana N. McDermott and Daniel L. McDermott, sisters Sandra K. Lewis of Frederica, DE, Mary H. Szczuka (husband Mike) of Bear, DE, and brother Joseph P. McDermott (wife Jan) of Salt Lake City, UT.  He is also survived by a niece and 3 nephews. 

Funeral services will be private.
