Edward T. Wisniewski, Jr., age 72, of Bear, Delaware passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at home from cancer with his wife, Mary, at his side.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Ed attended Arizona Western Jr. College. Ed spent three years in the Army, two of those years in Vietnam. After his military service, he graduated from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado in 1974 with a BA. Ed attended graduate school at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
Ed enjoyed playing defensive lineman for three years in college. Also, Ed developed lifelong friendships and was affectionately known as “Wiz”. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Ed was a Special Education Teacher with the Pittsburgh Public Schools as well as Elkton High School in Maryland. His second career was with the Fleet Services group for the former US Airways in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
Ed was a proud patriot and a historical buff, especially of military history. He belonged to the Brandywine Rod and Gun Club. In his younger years, he was an accomplished skier. During their retirement Ed and Mary enjoyed extensive travel.
Ed is survived by his wife, Mary McIver Wisniewski with whom he shared 42 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Mary, Ed is survived by 3 sisters, Linda Elliott, (Carmen), Debbie Yolles and Kim Svigir (Martin); his 2 sisters-in-law, Pati Manly (Tom) and Eileen Wilkins (Dave Luebs); and his brother-in-law, Paul McIver (Sue). Ed is also survived by many nieces and a nephew.
Ed is predeceased by his beloved son, Eric and his parents, Stella and Edward Wisniewski.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Margaret of Scotland Church in Newark, Delaware in January. More details to follow.
