Obituary

Elizabeth McAlley, age 84, of Bear, DE died August 13, 2023 at the Wilmington Hospital, Accent Care Hospice Unit.

She was originally born Elizabeth Bell in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1937.  Elizabeth married James McAlley of Edinburgh, Scotland in 1958.  She became a mother and housewife with the birth of her son, Kevin in 1965 and her daughter, Moira in 1972.

Elizabeth had a B.S. Degree in accounting from Goldey Beacom College in 1985. After college, she accepted a position at the Hercules Company in Wilmington, DE.  Elizabeth went on to ascend the position of Global Product Account Manager for Hercules and then later Himont and Montel.  She was a member of the Lady Elks along with her husband, James McAlley, who was a member of New Castle Elks Lodge #2281.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, James McAlley, who was a well regarded Piano Technician, since moving to Delaware with Elizabeth in 1961.  She is survived by her son and daughter, Kevin James McAlley and Moira Elizabeth McAlley and their families.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at the Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702.  Burial will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Elizabeth McAlley.
