Elwood Davidson Obituary

Elwood Gordon Davidson passed away January 8, 2021.

Born in 1936, Elwood lived most of his life in Montgomery County, PA before retiring in the Poconos, recently residing in Milford, Delaware. The only child of Evelyn (Mairs) and Elwood Smith Davidson, he died on the same day his mother died 79 years later.

He lived with his Aunt Mary most of his childhood. At a young age, he joined the U.S. Army and served his tour of duty in Germany. He worked in the Davidson family business, then followed his passion for training and racing standardbred horses for the rest of his life. He never lost his love for horses and other animals.

Elwood, also known as Sonny, Dad, Duke, Corky and Wedgwood, was a quiet thoughtful man with a wonderful sense of humor, much loved by his family, with a wide circle of friends. He enjoyed a simple life.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; three children, Lorey Davidson Torrieri and her husband, Rick, Keith Davidson, Jennifer Davidson Rambo and her husband, Rick; three grandchildren, Teddy Ratjen, husband Jared, Dani Torrieri and Rikki Torrieri; his extended family, Lisa Rittenhouse, Charles Thomes and Ava Rittenhouse; a brother, David Davidson; two sisters, Joy Moyer, husband Lee, and Diane Hartman, husband Mike.   He was dearly loved, is missed by his family and will be held in our hearts until we meet again.

A visitation will be help on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 from 10:30AM to 12:30PM, at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. All attending will be required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing to maintain compliance with State COVID-19 Regulations.  Admittance will be regulated.  A Committal Service will follow with full military honors in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
