Fredrick E. Steele, 69, born and raised in Delaware, passed away on October 25, 2021.
He began his career as a long haul truck driver while still a teenager. He loved motorcycles and fast cars in his youth before he met and settled down with his wife Bobbie. His love of family led him to transition from long haul to local truck driving. Due to disability, he retired as a truck driver from Diamond State Recycling in 2011.
Fred enjoyed Bingo, playing cards, going to Delaware Park and his dogs. Family gatherings were important to him. He was well known for getting friends and family riled up before leaving the party with their lighter in his pocket and found great joy in revealing the lighter in his hand as he drove away.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bobbie Steele (Carey), 4 children, Terri, Fred, Christopher and Robert, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents William and Shirley Steele, 2 brothers and a sister
He enjoyed spoiling and spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. They all have fond memories of their times together.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Beeson Funeral Home, Newark where a visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm in Glebe Cemetery, New Castle.
Masks will be required to attend services due to Bobbie's health.
