Gary Collier, age 72 of Newark, Delaware passed away November 24, 2021, at Christiana Hospital. Gary was a graduate of Christiana High School. After high school Gary served as a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy for 10 years on submarines. Following his time in the service, he worked 38 years at DuPont Pencader as a Mechanical Engineer Technologist where he retired in 2017.
Gary was loved by all; family was the most important thing in his life. He spent many weekends supporting his children then grandchildren in every sport they participated in. The one sport that held the biggest part of his heart was high school wrestling where he actively served on the board of Delaware USA Wrestling.
Gary was survived by his wife of 52 years Kathy (Sciavicco) Collier, daughter Wendy Meekins, daughter Bobbi DiVirgilio, son LA (The Favorite) Collier, son in law Joseph DiVirgilio, daughter in law Nicole Collier, and grandchildren Cody Meekins, Morgan Meekins, Samantha DiVirgilio, Noelle DiVirgilio, Nina Collier, and Cole Collier.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday December 16, 2021, at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway Newark, Delaware 19702.
