George R. Kennedy, 79, of Bear, Delaware died at home on Thursday March 4, 2021 while surrounded by his family.
George served in the U.S. Navy and worked at the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Newark, Delaware. He retired in 1995 after working there for 30 years.
He was a member of the American Power Boat Association since 1971 and various racing clubs including the Hills Point Gang, Maryland Boat Racing Club, Marine Prop Riders and Kent Narrows Racing Association.
George is predeceased by his wife Barbara Kennedy and parents Harold and Mildred Kennedy. Survivors include daughter Patti Hayes and her husband Dave, son George Kennedy, Jr. and his wife Sandy who was also caregiver for her father in law, four grandsons Bobby Kennedy (Sara Langley) of Michigan, Brandon Kennedy (Karson) of Delaware, Kyles Hayes and Austin Hayes of Michigan, and four great grandsons Benjamin and Colton Kennedy of Michigan, Theodore and Baby Kennedy (due March 20) of Delaware.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
