Harriet (Perkins) Griffin

Harriet Griffin, age 93, of Bear, Delaware, peacefully transitioned on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Roosevelt Perkins, Sr. and Rosa Lewis Perkins. Harriet was a long-time member of St. John AM Church in Newark Delaware.

Before retiring, Harriet worked as a teacher in Sussex and New Castle County. Many of her previous students still refer to her as their best teacher. She led a life rooted in grace, humility, and unwavering faith while never complaining and always with a warm smile. Her lessons went far beyond the classroom shaping many generations through quiet strength and wisdom.  Harriet lived a life of purpose and left this world full of the same peace she gave to others. Her presence will be missed, but her light will never fade.

Her loving and devoted survivors are her daughter: Shari Adams of Bear, DE; her grandsons: Jerry Adams (Markia) and Banks Adams; her cherished great-grandchildren: Sany'a Moody-Adams, J'Anni Adams, Jeremiah Adams, Baylei Adams, Brace Adams, and Jru Adams, all of which Harriet’s legacy will continue with love, strength, and joy; her loving and devoted sister; Beulah Perkins affectionately known as Bea, of Philadelphia, PA.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
