Helen M. Clowes, age 80, of New Castle, DE, formerly of Chester, PA died on July 12, 2024 at Christiana Hospital.
Helen attended St. Hedwigs in Chester, PA through the eighth grade. Helen graduated from Chichester High School as the Valedictorian. She went on to Temple University for a short time and ended up graduating from Pierce Jr. Business College.
Helen started her career with Farmers Bank which later became Mellon bank. She received an early retirement package from Mellon Bank then went on, after a 2 year break to spend time with her mother, to work for JP Morgan. She was 1/2 owner of “Randy’s 2-Way One Stop CB Shop” where her CB handle “Annie Oakley” was born, after impressing her father-in-law while target shooting.
Helen was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Hedwigs church, until she moved to Delaware. Helen was also an avid supporter of animal shelters and rescued many cats over the last several years with the help of her friends Fred Mulkie and Kevin Barnes.
Helen was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Randy Clowes. She is survived by her son, Alex Clowes and his wife Ginger of Wilmington, DE.
A viewing will be held at the Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702 on Thursday July 18, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, where a funeral service will begin at 5:00 pm. The committal service will be held at a later date in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
