Helen Esther Morgan Tyler passed peacefully at the age of 92, February 5, 2023 at Westminster Village, Dover, Delaware.
She was born in Newark, Delaware in 1931 to James Morgan and May DuHamell Morgan.
Helen graduated from Newark High School where she met her soul mate and husband of 72 years, Ronald “Duke” Tyler.
After marrying, Helen spent several years working in the Newark offices at Chrysler Corporation, before starting her family. Later, after Duke retired, she worked part-time for over 20 years at the University of Delaware State 4-H office.
She actively participated and supported her family in various outdoor activities – camping across country, archery tournaments winning a national title, boating and water skiing at West View Shores, Maryland, setting up Delaware State Fair entries, and finally acting as stable manager when her family began raising and showing Registered AQHA Quarter Horses.
Helen was a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Newark where she was past president of Women in the Church ministry, a mentor and guide in Pioneer Girls, and faithful member of the church choir. She managed a variety of church dinners getting her whole family involved. In addition, Helen and Duke supported several Mission to the World missionaries located in South America.
Helen and Duke loved to join friends for dancing, enjoyed summers and weekends at Cape Henlopen, and shared their gift of hospitality hosting family reunions.
Helen is survived by husband, Duke; daughters Sharon Payne (John), Anne Daly (Bob), Denise Griffin (Michael), Leslie Myers (Mark); grandchildren, Audra Geneva, Morgan and Brynne Williams; and great grandchildren, Trevor, Brooke, and Victoria Geneva.
Helen was predeceased by brother, James Morgan, and sister, Virginia Morgan Harper.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 10-11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home. Interment will be private at a later date
