Jacquelyn McDermott Whalen

Jacquelyn McDermott Whalen, 72, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Jacque was born and raised in Darby, Pennsylvania to the late John and Helen (Myers) McDermott and later moved to Newark, DE.

She was currently employed as a medical billing specialist with HCPM.  She loved her family dearly and really enjoyed being Gamma to her grandchildren.  Her dogs were a constant source of companionship to her.  Jacque loved game shows, oldies music, dancing, traveling but there was nothing better than spending time with family and friends especially down on the Bohemia River. She will be dearly missed by her family and many lifelong friends.

Jacque is survived by her son Anthony Whalen, daughter Angela (Jesse) Stalter, sons Nicholas (Candice) Whalen, Shawn (Stephanie) Whalen, her grandchildren Carter, Jacob, Jessica, Samantha, A.J; her siblings Helen (Daniel) Brasure, John (Patricia) McDermott, Colleen (Bruce) Wheatley, nieces, nephews, aunts, godchildren and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. Visitation will be held from 2 - 3 pm with services from 3 - 4 pm. Interment will be private.
