James E. Dickinson, age 82, passed away on Friday, April 24 at Harrison House Senior Living in Georgetown, DE of complications from COVID-19. Jimmy was born in Wilmington to George and Madeleine (Elliott). He attended A. I. duPont
High School where he excelled at football. He was employed at Hercules Inc. for 38 years of dedicated service and also served in the Delaware National Guard.
Jim loved all sports, pitching horseshoes, going to the beach every summer, and above all, his family. He had many close friends, many of whom he had known since high school.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son William Dickinson.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara; his daughter Cheryl (David) Founds; his grandchildren, Valerie and Keith (Olivia) Dickinson, Shane (Jessica) and Lindsay Founds, and a great grandson, Trey Dickinson.
The family would like to especially thank the wonderful staff at Harrison House Senior Living who took great care of Jim.
Due to the unfortunate COVID-19 pandemic, services will be private with a celebration of Jimmy’s life to be held at a later date.
