James (Jim) passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Jim was born in 1946 in Wilmington to George and Mildred Loving and grew up in the Forty Acres.
Jim was a proud graduate of Wilmington High School and served as a Sergeant in the DE Army National Guard. He worked for over 30 years as a Lab Technician at DuPont’s Stine-Haskell site. After retiring from DuPont, Jim worked for the Division of Motor Vehicles in Dover for over 10 years. He also owned a small business installing flooring and completing handyman projects.
Jim was a true Renaissance man. He found joy in craftsmanship of all kinds including woodworking, and he valued teaching others about the art of craftsmanship. Jim also loved antique cars, football and history. He treasured time with family and friends and looked forward to entertaining at the grill during BBQs. Jim enjoyed learning fun facts and trivia and would often have a witty word or joke to share with others.
Jim was predeceased by Carla, his wife of 28 years and his brothers and sisters-in-law, George (Dot) of Upper Darby, PA and John (Joanne) of Bear, DE. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James L. Loving, Jr. (Jennifer) of Wallingford, PA and his step-daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Celestin (Abdallah) of Bear, DE.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February, 27, 2023, at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Hwy, Newark, DE 19702 with visitation at 10:00 am. A committal service will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
