James Temple Obituary

James Temple, age 80, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2020 surrounded by his family.

Jim was born at home in Claymont, Delaware.  His family later moved to Newark where he attended Newark High School.  He worked at Motor Wheel Corp for 23 years until they closed.  He then worked for the Brandywine School District as a groundskeeper at Concord High School until his retirement in 2003.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved fishing and crabbing and was known to share his catches with the whole neighborhood.  He lived to fish.  He enjoyed cheating at any game he played, shooting pool, flea markets, fishing, walking on the boardwalk in Wildwood and just being in the sunshine.  Oh, did we mention he loved to fish?  Anyone who knew Jim would know he was never without an article of clothing with a fish on it.  We will miss his infectious smile.

He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Helen Temple, wife Elizabeth Temple, brothers Frankie, Tommy and Richie Temple as well as son-in-law Bo Adwell and grandson Joseph Southard.

Jim is survived by daughter Lisa Adwell, son James Temple (MaryBeth), granddaughter Kristen Temple who was the light of his life, brother William Temple (Lorraine), sister Cheryl Moore, his companion of 20 years “Sweet Pea” Liz, ex-wife Patricia Temple and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice.

In lieu of the current pandemic, services will be private.
