Jane departed this life on September 14, 2020 at home surrounded by her family.
In February of 1936 (or 1938 like she told people, lol), Jane Jones was born in Brooklyn, NY to Lena and Charles Lombardi and later her brother, Charles, completed their family.
Jane spent her early years in Brooklyn, until she met Joseph, the love of her life. Jane was at a friend’s party and she spotted an unoccupied chair across the room. She made her way to that chair and sat down. Then, the unoccupied, broken chair sent Jane to the floor! That is until an extended hand helped her to her feet. Their eyes met and their love story began. Jane and Joseph wed on December 24 and moved their family from Brooklyn to 36 Byrne Place in Bergenfield, NJ. Jane and Joseph worked hard and raised their family in that same home at the bottom of the hill. They spent summers in their family swimming pool, camping in Maine, travelling to Baltimore, MD and Halifax, VA to visit family and they spent winters sledding down that snowy hill, ice-skating at Cooper’s Pond and drinking hot chocolate with extra marshmallows. They retired to the Jersey Shore in Toms River, NJ and later moved to Elkton, MD. Jane and Joseph were married for an amazing sixty years.
Jane’s hobbies included crocheting, bingo, reading Sherlock Holmes novels, listening to Motown, dancing, acting- especially scenes from The Wizard of Oz, studying to become a bear and a tree (lol), but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Jane was the happiest when she was with her family, she loved to joke and could never hold a grudge. She would give you the shirt off her back and she loved unconditionally, with her whole heart.
Jane joined her daughter, Jane Burroughs. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Joseph L. Jones; her son, John Calamia (Faye); her daughters, JoAnn Hudson, Jacqueline Jones, Joyce Totten (James), Janet Jones-Rouse (James); her grandchildren, Dr. Jane Jones (Abraham), Brent Hudson (Allyson and Cameron), James Totten, Nina Hudson, Jocelyn Totten, Julia Totten, Joseph Rouse, Stephanie Calamia, Jennifer Calamia-Jones, Kimm Calamia, Carol Calamia; a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; as well as, cousins and friends.
Services will be held privately.
