Janet Eileen Huff, age 81, of Bear, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Janet was born in 1944 in Wilmington, Delaware and grew up in Newark, Delaware with her parents and two sisters. Janet was a cheerleader at Newark High School, where she first met her husband, Darrell. She graduated from Newark High School in 1962 and then attended the University of Delaware for two years before joining the workforce at Dupont. She worked part- time at Wilmington General Hospital while raising her children and at financial institutions in Delaware and New Jersey. She ended her career at Wilmington Trust Company in Wilmington, where she worked as a commercial loan administrator.
Janet married Darrell Huff on September 18, 1965, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth, especially at Christmastime. She was a devoted mother to Chris, Kim, Scott, Steven and Greg, and a proud grandmother to Erin, Emily, Nicholas, Kyle, and Lydia. Her nurturing spirit, uncanny wisdom, sarcastic sense of humor, and unwavering support touched everyone who knew her.
Beyond her family, Janet had a passion for crafting, knitting, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and watching endless movies on the Hallmark channel.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Marion Zimmer, and her sisters, Dorothy Smith and Terry Blaine.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years: Darrell Huff; her children: Christopher Huff (Rebecca), Kimberly Wingo (Dale), Scott Huff, Steven Huff (Samantha), Gregory Huff (Kristine); her grandchildren: Erin, Emily, Nicholas, Kyle, and Lydia.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2025 from 10-11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. A celebration of her life will follow at 11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home.
Her love will forever remain in our hearts.
