In loving memory, Joan Elizabeth Davidson Weber Lewis, age 83, of Middletown, DE, was called to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Cadia Healthcare Broadmeadow, Middletown after a lengthy illness.
She was born in 1940, in Harbeson, Delaware to the late Albert and Olga (Maloney) Davidson. She was predeceased by sister Virginia Ehlers, great niece Jessica Sarlo, and best friend Diane Rump.
Joan graduated from Georgetown High School in 1958. She was an Honored Queen of Bethel 5 of The International Order of Job’s Daughters in 1958. She enjoyed performing around Sussex County as a member of The Teenettes singing group with her cousin Myrna Baker and friend Joyce Wilgus.
She attended the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Wilmington, DE and graduated in 1961 as a Registered Nurse (RN). She started working at Memorial Hospital and became a Head Nurse on the 3rd South Floor. She transferred to Christiana Hospital when it opened in January 1985 and worked there until her retirement in 2003. She was well known for being a dedicated and caring Nurse over her 42 years of service to the WMC, Christiana Hospital and Christiana Care.
After retirement, Joan moved to Middletown to live with her son Adam and his family, and cherished being so close to her grandsons Adam, Jr. and Alexander Weber while living there. She loved watching them play baseball.
Joan loved her dogs so much and is happily reunited with Clyde, Cuddles, Cleo, Cody, Chloe, Chelsea and grand dogs Jake, Buddy and Sammy.
She is survived by her daughter: Beth A. Weber-Robinson (Patrick), son: Adam D. Weber, Sr. (Deborah); Grandchildren: Adam D. Weber, Jr., Alexander J. Weber and his fiancé Mackenzie, Emily E. Robinson, and Jessica L. Romano, whom she treated like a granddaughter; her nephews: Eric Ehlers, Craig Ehlers and Kent Ehlers; and her niece: Lisa Ehlers Campbell.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 10 -11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Hwy, Newark, DE 19702. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N Dupont Hwy, New Castle, DE 19720.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff of the Strand Unit of Cadia Broadmeadow, especially Shawn, Tanya, Chantelle, Roberta, Jessica and Keshay, along with Jameel and Ciera of AccentCare Hospice & Palliative Care of Newark, DE, for their exceptional care of Joan during the past 6 months.
