Joann "Jody" (Vlasveld) Davis

Jody Davis, age 63, passed away on January 20, 2022, at Christiana Hospital surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1958, Jody was the daughter of Margaret and Nicholas Vlasveld.  She was a 1976 graduate of Glasgow High School.

She met the love of her life, Joseph Davis at age 14, and they married in November of 1978.   Shortly after, they had two sons Joey and Josh, who she adored.   She and Joe spent the remainder of their lives together in Newark, Delaware close to their parents.

Jody had an incredible love for her family.  She was one of five children and was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, a patient and loving mother and an amazing aunt.  She had the biggest heart and sweetest soul and would have given her last dollar to help someone in need. 

Those of us that were blessed enough to be touched by her, understand her life and the imprint she left on our hearts exceeded the quantity of time she stayed here.

She enjoyed watching her boys play sports throughout their lives and was a constant source of love, kindness, and support.     

Jody was the most loving, humble, compassionate, understanding, non-judgmental, family-oriented woman and one of the most beautiful souls one could ever meet.  Words cannot describe how much she will be missed.

Jody was predeceased by her parents Nick and Peggy Vlasveld, and mother-in-law Garnette Davis. 

Jody is survived by her loving husband of 43 years Joe Davis; two sons, Joey and Josh Davis; siblings, Robert (Carla) Richardson, Susann Shepherd, Nicholas Vlasveld, Brenda (Scott) Miller; father-in-law, Tommie Davis; brother in laws, Jacob (Jenelle) Davis, Richard (Cindy) Davis; sister in laws, Brenda (Lee) Hubbs, and Sharon (Daryl) Cooke; and lifelong friend Kendra Eggleston. 

Jody also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who she adored. She had unconditional love for her great nieces and nephews and went out of her way to make them feel special.

A celebration of Jody’s life will be held on Saturday February 5, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at True Life Church, 130 Executive Drive, Newark, Delaware 19702.
