John “Jack” Bedford, age 87, from Newark, DE and The Villages, FL, passed away in the Villages, FL on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.
Jack was survived by his high school sweetheart and love of his life for 68 years, Terry Bedford. He was predeceased by his parents, Milton and Helen Bedford, sister Dolores Furlong and son, Rick Bedford.
Jack and Terry moved their family from Paoli, PA to Newark, DE in 1964 where they raised their six children. He was in the grocery business for twenty plus years before he started his own family business, The Country Maids where his wife and several of his children worked by his side.
Once established with several Country Maids, Jack and Terry retired to Florida and began another stage of their lives together.
Among many hobbies, such as boating and softball, Jack’s legacy was his collection and compassion of Lionel Trains. Over the years he built numerous train platforms for friends, co-workers, and every Christmas for his family. Jack was an avid Philadelphia Phillies Fan!
Jack is survived by his children, Ray, Carole (Rich), Cheryl (Steven), Cathy (Joe) and Cindy (Ajay). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, several step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
