Juanita Jean Wynn (Nita), age 78, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, surrounded by family.
Nita was born and raised in Grayling, Michigan and graduated from Grayling High School in 1965. Following high school, she continued her education at Baker Business College in Flint, Michigan. While working for the Assemblies of God district office, Nita met her future husband, Elwan Wynn (Carl), at a church camp in Olivet, Michigan.
It was a whirlwind from dating to engagement to marriage, followed by a move to Delaware, where they built a life together and raised their family. Nita was a devoted mother to David Wynn (Jennifer), Daniel Wynn (Lynsey), and Amy Krzyzanowski (Michael). Her grandchildren were her pride and joy: Elena (David), Karsyn and Wynter (Daniel), and Alex and Abby (Amy).
Nita was a stay-at-home mom for several years before returning to the workforce once her children were in school. She later worked for 18 years as a secretary for the Deaf-Blind Program at the Delaware School for the Deaf, where she formed lifelong friendships and remained close with many colleagues long after her retirement. She truly valued those relationships and always enjoyed reconnecting over dinners and shared stories.
Outside of work, Nita had a passion for travel. In her younger years, she backpacked across Europe with close friends and later went on to visit 48 of the 50 states - Alabama and Alaska the only ones remaining. She was the “cool aunt” who loved including her nieces and nephews on trips and made lasting memories on the road with them. A much-anticipated trip to Alaska, thoughtfully planned by her niece Martel, was canceled when the global pandemic intervened, but her family plans to make the trip in her honor.
Nita was a talented scrapbooker who carefully documented memories in albums that her family and friends will always treasure. When she wasn’t traveling or scrapbooking, Nita could often be found at her puzzle table, working on puzzles while watching Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune—and family and friends knew better than to call during those shows. She was an avid reader and exceptionally organized, keeping detailed records of the books she read, the celebrities she met, and even how many times she watched each episode of Blue Bloods. Donnie Wahlberg, if you’re reading this, my mom would love a shoutout.
Nita was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Wynn; her brothers George Galloway, Tony Galloway, Roger Galloway, and Gerald Galloway; and her parents, George and Elma Galloway.
She is survived by her brother Michael Galloway, her sister Carol Thompson, many beloved nieces and nephews, her children and their spouses, and her grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. Nita will be interred with her husband at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in a private ceremony at a later date.
Nita will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
