Kimberlyn Lee Allen, age 58 of Newark, Delaware returned to the Kingdom of Heaven on November 24, 2022.
Kim was born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1964. She grew up in Glasgow, the second of five children in her family. She graduated with the Middletown High School Class of 1982. She later attended Delaware-Technical Community College and earned her real estate license in 1987. Before and during the years she was establishing her real estate career, she worked at several area restaurants as a waitress where she ended up meeting her husband one day in 1987. She worked at a few different real estate firms over the years but for the past 15 years has worked at Coldwell Banker Realty in Wilmington where she had been a top preforming sales agent.
Kim was a fiercely protective mama bear for her entire family, but especially for her boys Ricky and Evan. She was a powerful presence in their lives. Among many other things she was always the homeroom mother for her boys’ class in their younger years and was very involved in their schools in the later years. She attended all of her boys’ sporting events, practices, and most of their scouting events, frequently filling in as den leader in cub scouts. When her boys started taking karate lessons she joined them at that also. Even when the boys dropped out of karate she continued on and earned her black belt in 2008.
She was involved in many volunteer activities over the years, including always volunteering at the churches she belonged to and volunteering at the Food Bank of Delaware. She organized and ran the Christmas Adopt-a-Family at her work doing all of the shopping for the kid’s presents, and she was currently a district captain for the Convention of States. Kim was a fitness enthusiast and exercised every day of the week. She enjoyed her annual trips to Dewey Beach, her many trips to vacation spots including Hawaii, Florida, and island destinations many times over, and she went on several cruises through the years. But above all else, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Kim would make friends everywhere she went. She would eagerly offer advice and share her opinions with those she cared about and usually with strangers too. Most importantly to her, she would share her Christian faith. She was absolutely confident and secure in the knowledge that she was a child of God and Jesus. She knew that she was saved and she was absolutely sure that she was going to heaven.
Kimberlyn leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 31 years, Richard James Allen and her loving son, Evan Andrew Allen. She was recently preceded in death by her wonderful son, Richard James Allen, Jr. and her brother Ryan Roderick.
Kim is also survived by her parents Kathy Roderick and Dave Roderick, her siblings David Roderick, Joel Roderick, and Erick Roderick, her aunts and uncles, her many in-laws, her many nieces and nephews, and her many-many friends. Last but not least, she is survived by her canine best friend Teddy, who she doted on like a child.
We are devastated by her passing. We do not know what we will do without her. We take comfort in the knowledge that she is in heaven and that we will be reunited with her someday.
A celebration of Kimberlyn’s life will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Connection Community Church, 4744 Summit Bridge Road, Middletown, DE 19709. Visitation will start at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Connection Community Church or to the Food Bank of Delaware.
God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 1 John 5:11
