Lydia H. Mendenhall, age 83, beloved mother and grandmother, peacefully passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1943, Lydia was the oldest of three children of George and Lydia Hilton. She spent most of the years of her life in Wilmington, Delaware, spending the last eight years in Colorado with her daughter and son-in-law.
Lydia graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1960, and shortly thereafter met and married her husband, Warren. She then began her greatest journey, motherhood; a journey of love, wisdom, sacrifice and strength. As a devoted mother, full of faith, Lydia was a blessing to her family. Her everlasting love for her family was the foundation of all that she did. Her caring and generous spirit will live in the hearts of her family forever.
Lydia worked for a few businesses over the years in various roles. She found the most rewarding to be when she worked as a legal secretary.
Lydia is survived by her loving children, Ellen Green (Robert) of Elizabeth, Colorado, Eric Mendenhall of Naples, Florida, and Charlotte Lennon (David) and her cherished grandson, Alexander Lennon of Newark, Delaware.
Lydia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Warren H. Mendenhall.
Funeral services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
