Patchanee Hickey

Patchanee (Thongplee) Hickey of Bear, DE passed away Monday, December 2, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Patchanee was born in Thailand where she met and married the love of her life, Ronald William Hickey, over 50 years ago.

She was beautiful, kind, generous, charitable, and compassionate. She was a great cook, introducing many to her delicious Thai cuisine, an expert seamstress and had a green thumb when it came to her wonderful gardens. She loved and cared for all animals, whether they were family pets or strays.

She was a proud Army wife and built beautiful homes filled with fond memories for her children and grandchildren in Germany, New Jersey, Kentucky, Oxford and Bear. Patchanee (YiYi / Khunya) was predeceased by her husband Ron.

She is survived by her son Tony and wife Diane (Wesner), daughter Madonna and wife Deb (Summa), daughter Dorina Palmer and husband Troy, Noi Chantarin and wife Parn, Nit Chantarin and wife Gill. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Gabbi and Teddy Palmer, Pawnie (Boppie) Chantarin-Northrup and husband Joe, Nina Chantarin, Tom Hess and fiancé Monica Pogue, Caila and Connor Hickey, and Mai Chantarin and by her adopted stray cat, Ginger. She was loved by all and will be missed dearly.

Friends may visit with the family on December 12, 2019 at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark Delaware from 9:00 to 10:30 am. A Committal Service will be private at The Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Bear. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made in her honor to Delaware Humane Association, 701 A. Street, Wilmington DE 19801.
