Paul Kemske, Jr. Obituary

Paul August Kemske, Jr, age 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Paul was born in 1922 in Wilmington, Delaware and was one of fîve children; three sisters and one brother.

Paul grew up in Holloway Terrace and attended William Penn High School in New Castle, Delaware. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Navy in the South Pacific. Paul joined the Delaware Air National Guard in 1963 and served for 19 years, retiring in 1982 with a rank of SMSGT. His has numerous awards for his service with the Navy and Air Force.   He also was a member of the Ironworkers Union Local 451 for over thirty years, retiring in 1972. Paul loved sports and in his younger years, he played semi-pro ball and also played for St. Anthony's of New Castle. He lived in Delaware until 1982, when he moved to Cocoa, Florida. After living in Florida for 25 years, he moved back to Newark, Delaware in 2007. He was an avid golf player and used to sit out by the wharf with his friends in New Castle, Delaware. He will be sorely missed by his children and friends.

Paul was predeceased by his parents Paul and Jessi Kemske, his three sisters, Mary McDowell, Mildred Morris, and Agnes Savage, brother, Leroy Kemske, daughter Kay Bowman, son, George (Buddy) Kemske and his son Michael Kemske. He is survived by daughter Barbara Kennedy of Buckeye, AZ, son Paul A Kemske and wife Sandi of Newark, DE, daughter Patti Heiber and husband Al of Newport, DE, and son Robert Kemske and wife Tami of Smyrna, DE. He is survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
