René A. Junca

René A. Junca, age 82, of Middletown, DE passed away on April 4, 2023. René was born in Bogotá, Colombia, the son of Arturo and Consuelo Junca. He relocated to the United States in 1960 where he built a life full of love, adventure and accomplishment. René was the husband of Shirley Zunino- Junca and they shared many wonderful years together. Their love was one that many admired.

René was a man of many talents and interests. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in Michigan, he worked for The DuPont Company for over 35 years in International Sales and was fluent in five different languages, which allowed him to travel the world extensively. He loved to explore new cultures and had a passion for experiencing all that life had to offer. He was an excellent chef and loved cooking and eating all kinds of foods. He obtained his pilot’s license and his pride and joy was his Cessna 170 airplane. He loved flying whenever he had the chance. 

René was an avid boater and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at his beach house on the Delaware Coast.

René will always be remembered as a kind and compassionate man who had a heart of gold. He was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone, and his infectious smile and warm personality made him a friend for life. René touched the lives of so many people and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

René is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ricardo Junca and his youngest son Bradley Junca.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stephan Junca (Anjanette) and Marc Junca of West Hollywood, CA. He is also survived by three stepchildren, Michelle Tuel (Ricky), Jennifer Zunino- Smith (Chris) and Ed Zunino Jr, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren with another soon to arrive, brother Germán Junca (Fanny), sister Yolanda Junca Arvizu and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Funeral services will be private.
