Rita Ann (Sliwa) Dzomba, age 93, passed away on July 30, 2025.
Rita was born in 1931, in Camden, New Jersey, to the late Stanley and Mary (Nowak) Sliwa. A straight-A student, Rita graduated high school in the inaugural class of St. Joseph’s High School in Camden in 1949. She married James C. Dzomba, a chemist and graduate of LaSalle University, in 1952 and celebrated 62 years of marriage before Jim passed away in 2014. A loving mother and grandmother, her children and grandchildren have many fond memories of days at the shore, her delicious yeast cakes, and often losing to Rita in Scrabble.
Rita was a member of St. Joseph Church in Camden, NJ, Incarnation Church in Ewing, NJ, St. Mary Magdalene Church in Simpsonville, SC, and St. Margaret of Scotland Church in Newark, DE.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rita was preceded in death by her brother Edward Sliwa (Delores), brother Robert Sliwa (Bonnie), and sister Marie DelaCour (John).
Relatives who will miss Rita include sons James Dzomba (Bari) and Thomas Dzomba (Valerie); daughter Marianne Belton (James); grandchildren Cathy Belton, Michelle Belton (Randy), Steven Belton (Alexandra), Alexandria Dzomba, Ashleigh Dzomba, Helena Dzomba, Julia Dzomba, Nicholas Dzomba, Olivia Dzomba, William Dzomba (Erica), Jessica Nypaver (Dave); and great-grandchildren Colton, James, Landen, Liam, Taylor, Thomas, and Zari. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, including Joan (Skedzielweski) Ryan (Phil).
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 10-11:00 am at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 2431 Frazer Rd., Newark, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE following the service.
