Rita Moore Obituary

Rita (Gilley) Moore passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2021 at the age of 74.

Rita went to join the Lord after a short, courageous battle with cancer.  Rita is predeceased by her parents Conley and Virginia Gilley.  She is survived by her longtime, loving partner of thirty-eight years, Billy Sykes. In addition, Rita is survived by her four children: Harold Moore, Jr. and his significant other, Dianna Delligatti, Christopher Moore and wife Deanna, their children Ryan, Corey, Ashley and Mackenzie; Tammy Malone and fiancé Todd August, their children, Zachary, Sydney and Shelby; Lisa Fletcher and husband Bruce, their children Kyle, Meghan, and Sean.  She also is survived by 5 great grandchildren.  Rita is also survived by her siblings, Gerald and wife Norma Gilley, son Eric; Carolyn and husband Gene McQuitty, children Rhonda, Gary, Sherri and Craig; and Debbie and husband John Adams.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Rita’s other family:  Newark Manor Nursing home who brought her love, happiness and joy on a daily basis.  The list would be extensive; however, she would want to mention Bruce, David, Nicole, Doris, Bexia, Rhonda, Susan, Edna, Jackie, Paulette, Sam, best friend Patti and the numerous other staff, residents, and their families that made going to work easy and enjoyable.  She had the utmost love and respect for all those who made her days at the Manor brighter.

Rita began her career at Newark Manor Nursing Home as a certified nursing aide and worked her way up as a licensed practical nurse then a registered nurse, only to become the Director of Nursing in her second home.  She gave more than forty years of her life to Newark Manor Nursing Home and took great pleasure in going to work there each day.

Rita meant so much to all those she knew!  Rita enjoyed spending time with family, going to the beach and gardening.  She loved life and put up a courageous battle never expecting to lose.  She was dedicated, caring, eternally optimistic, beautiful inside and out, and never met a challenge she couldn’t handle.  She lived life to the fullest and made the world a better place.  She is now making heaven a better place.  She will be missed by her family and friends more than anyone could imagine.  Rest in peace Mom until the day we meet again.  We love you and miss you more than life!
