Robert Bailey Obituary

Robert D. Bailey, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 19, 2021. He was born in 1936 in Earleville, Maryland to Ralph E. Bailey Sr. and Marion Long Bailey.

He was a resident of Cecilton, Maryland when he graduated and entered the Army. Robert married Carol Ann Johnson in 1958, in Manchester, Connecticut before returning to Cecilton, Maryland and was most recently living in Bear, Delaware. He worked as a superintendent in the paint department at Chrysler until his retirement in 1988. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, gardening, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and cat Nuke.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, four children Donald Bailey (Constance), Steven Bailey (Sharon), Cindy Underwood (Robert) and David Bailey, six grandchildren Courtney Billips, Brittany Bailey, Nichole Bailey, Meghan Underwood, Erika Bailey and Kelsey Underwood and three great grandchildren Isabella Billips, Tristan Billips and Naomi O’Connor.

A viewing will be held at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, Delaware 19702, on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:00 pm.  A Committal Service will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Delaware at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Season’s Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Suite 407, Newark, DE 19713, Paralyzed Veterans of America, 5000 Wissahickon Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19144 or St. Margaret of Scotland Church at the above address.
