Robert Francis Parsons Sr.

Robert Francis Parsons, age 81, of Bear DE, formerly of Folcroft PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 10, 2019. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edgar and Rose Parsons.

Bob attended St. John Neumann High School in Philadelphia and upon graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps. He served as an Aviation Ordinance Specialist stationed in Okinawa, Japan for three years. Bob had a 30-year career with National Cash Register (NCR). He began repairing cash registers in the 1960s and when he retired in the early 1990s was repairing and supporting mainframe and network computer systems. Residing in Folcroft, Pennsylvania he was active in the Folcroft Boys Club and served as President of the club. He often ran the snack bar on Saturdays and was a well-known figure around the sports fields each day.  He relocated the family to Bear DE in 1989. After retirement he owned and operated Parsons Deli and Catering in New Castle DE. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, Christmas Eve traditions, reading military history and time with his family. 

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dorothy of Bear, DE; by his brother Paul (Denise) of Folcroft PA and his sons Robert (Wendy) of Bear DE , Stephen (Chris) of Garnet Valley PA and Kevin (Nancy) of New Castle DE.; his grandchildren; Courtney (Chris), Stephen (Brandi), Rachael, Shannon, Morgan, Kevin, Andrew, Cole, Ian and Rylie and his great grandchildren Brendan and Connor. He was preceded by his sister Anna.

A viewing for family and friends will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 345 Bear Christiana Rd., Bear, DE 19701 on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM followed immediately by a Catholic Funeral Mass.
