Robert Powell, Sr. Obituary

Robert C. Powell Sr., age 85, went to be with the Lord Saturday morning, December 14, 2019, surrounded by his wife and family.  Born in 1934 in Three Springs, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Earl Powell and Olive (Taylor) Powell.

Bob proudly served in the United Stated Army, as a member of the 13th Ordinance Company out of Ft. Bliss, Texas.  After his military service Bob went to work at the Chrysler manufacturing facility in Newark, Delaware where he retired after 33 years.  He was an avid hunter, mechanic and sports fan and spent much of his time at the bowling alley.

Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 11 years, Peggy Sue (O’Dell) and his four children, Kim, Bobby (Lisa), Jeff and Greg (Tracy) Powell and sisters Dorothy Byers and Shelby Ruby, stepsons Elwood (Carrie) and Michael (Lisa) Powlus. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, to include Michael Powell, Miranda Powell and Makayla (Logan) Corbin, along with ten step grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Carl.

The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to the staff at Seasons Hospice, for their loving care and support during his final days.

Memorial services for Bob Sr. will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, Delaware 19702.  A committal service will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
